At Riverside we love to be a part of the work God is doing not only in our community but around the world. Here are some of the missionaries we regularly support locally and globally.


Victor and Sonia Mayoral

Location: Primo Tapia, Mexico

Information:

Our calling from God to be full time missionaries started in October 31,1999. Me (Victor), my wife Sonia, and our 2 High Schoolers moved from Los Angeles to Rosarito Mexico. A step of faith as God confirmed this calling in our Lives. (Isaiah 61:1,3)

Mission Overview:

To assist groups in reaching those in need and supplying directly as the Lord provides, (food, clothing, building supplies, supporting orphanages and soup kitchens). To equip the saints to continue to share the gospel to the people, through the teaching of the full council of the Word, through community outreach and service. To give full Glory to God for the work that He accomplishes. (Proverbs 3:5-6). Community outreaches, ministering to orphans and widows, construction projects, ministering in rehab facilities, assisting local churches, and occasional Baja Trips.

How to Give:

We are unable to give to the Mayorals at this time, but support them through our regular missions trips down there.


Paul and Elizabeth Johnson

Location: Kigali, Rwanda

Information:

Only the Lord could bring Paul & Elizabeth together and send them to the mission field. Paul was born and lived in an old log house in northern Yukon, in the Klondike gold field’s area, and Elizabeth was born and lived in eastern Rwanda close to the Akagera National wildlife region. The Lord sent them off from John 15:16. They have a passion for souls and desire to see lives changed through facilitating Biblical and Literary achievements… “to change lives for generations…”

Steve Thompson

Location: Surrey, B.C.
Ministry: Global Aid Network (GAiN)

Information:

The Lord called Steve out of his previous career and into the mission field through GAiN. He frequently travels to Africa to bless communities with the Gospel Message and fresh water.

Mission Overview:

Steve leads the Water For Life Initiative, a program which restores life through the provision of water wells, and proclaims the Living Water of Jesus through partnerships with local churches.

Norm and Michelle Smith

Location: Serving in Europe and Canada from White Rock BC

Information:

Norm & Michelle Smith were married in 1977 and early on God challenged them to be willing to serve Him anywhere. They’ve been involved in mission work overseas since 1988. Norm and Michelle have two grown sons and six grandchildren. One son lives in the Lower Mainland, and one is currently working for a university in the USA.

Mission Overview:

Norm began working in the ReachGlobal Europe Director’s office in 1993. For many years Norm’s role has been to coordinate Logistics and Event Planning for the RG Europe’s 200+ missionaries. Michelle began learning ASL in 1986 has been working with the Deaf community both here in Canada and in Europe since then.

Andrew and Michelle Sandeen

Location: Fort Morgan, Colorado

Information:

Andrew and Michelle live with their three children in Fort Morgan, Colorado.
Andrew is a member of International Association for Refugees and Michelle has been working with Tyndale Bible Translation.

Mission Overview:

IAFR is an international Christian mission agency that is helping people recover from forced displacement. IAFR is actively working in Africa, Europe, and North America.
The translation work Michelle is currently involved in are the Ikizu and Zanaki New Testaments.

The Okuruts

Samuel and Charity Okurut were led by the Lord to El Salvador in June of 2008.
They have a family of 9 children; Michael, Benjamin, Martha, Eleanora, Ivan, Eseuna, Charity, Patrick, Judah.

Ed and Cheryl Hickey

Location: Abbotsford, B.C.
Ministry: The Paul Initiative

Ed and Cheryl have been in the ministry for years. Ed has planted and pastored churches in B.C. and Ontario. He has a huge heart for discipleship and started The Paul Initiative to build up pastors and leaders around the world, equipping them for ministry.
Ed and Cheryl live in Abbotsford and Ed pastors Abbotsford Calvary Chapel.

Mission Overview:

The Paul Initiative has the mission to make disciples and train up church leaders. Ed actively mentors and teaches people around the world to faithfully and passionately lead a fruitful ministry. The Paul Initiative currently is working with leaders in Canada, Kenya, Nepal, and more.

Bryan and Bonnie Pue are the founders of The Union Movement, a ministry dedicated to helping people find wholeness in the areas of sexuality, identity, and relationships. After many years of experience leading in the local church context, their hearts were burdened by how people all over the world are living with shame, confusion, and sexual brokenness.They started The Union Movement in 2018 in response to this need.

The Union Movement exists to help people find wholeness by presenting a gospel-centred, holistic approach to the topics of identity, sexuality, and relationships by bringing together Biblical, historical, and cultural perspectives.
