Present Judgment, Future Restoration

Amos receives another vision from God, this time it’s of a basket of summer fruit – the ripe fruit ready for picking. Israel was this ripe fruit, ready for the judgment of God. Yet as we go through these chapters, we see that God is very gracious, still giving people an opportunity to turn back to Him. There will be a faithful remnant that will remain. And as we close out the book we end with the wonderful picture of Israel’s restoration, which ultimately comes through the Messiah – Jesus Christ. Bible Text: Amos 8:1-9:15

The Plumb Line Is Set

Amos preaches his fifth and final message to Israel, who’ve been living in the lap of luxury without any concern for God’s Word of coming judgment. Amos is shown three visions, one of which reveals the plumb line of the Lord. Israel has been a crooked nation and needs to be set right. It’s a definite reminder for us to be sure we’re lined up with God’s Word. Bible Text: Amos 6:1-7:17

Seek Me And Live

We’ve been looking at the coming judgment against Israel for their rebellion, sin and injustices towards their own people. Yet in the midst of impending judgment, God is calling out to individuals to stop what they’re doing and return to Him. God desires that none would perish, and we see His incredible grace in this passage. Bible Text: Amos 5:1-27

Amos 3:1-4:13 – A Word To Sinning Israel

Amos begins a series of sermons against Israel for their sin against God and against their own people. Judgment is coming, but God is faithful to send someone like Amos to ultimately see God’s covenant people repent and return to their God. Bible Text: Amos 3:1-4:13

Amos 1:1-2:16 – A Word To The Nations

Amos was just a simple sheep breeder in a small town. Yet God took an ordinary guy and placed an extraordinary calling on his life. Amos would be used of the Lord to share His message to the people of Israel who had drifted from their covenant relationship with God. In the book of Amos we see the care and compassion of God toward the unfair treatment of others. These first two chapters reveal the sovereignty of God as He has a word of judgment for various nations surrounding Israel, and then hits home to Israel themselves. Bible Text: Amos 1:1-2:16
