Jesus Stands Before Pilate: Matthew 27:1-26 | Brent Smith
Jesus is unjustly condemned through the betrayal of Judas and stands before Pilate. The real person on trial though is Pilate who needs to decide what he must do with Jesus. Jesus has come as the perfect sinless Saviour to take the place of the guilty.
The Glory Returns: 1 Samuel 5-6 | Brent Smith
In this passage, we witness the severe consequences faced by the Philistines after capturing the Ark of the Covenant. God’s hand becomes a symbol of His displeasure, manifesting in a heavy affliction upon the people of Ashdod, characterized by destruction and disease.
Peter’s Denial of Jesus: Matthew 26:57-75 | Brent Smith
Jesus undergoes the beginning of His illegal trial. Like a lamb led to the slaughter He opened not his mouth (Isaiah 53:7; Acts 8:32). Silence would have been a good move for Peter, but he instead opened his mouth and denied Jesus.
The Garden of Distress: Matthew 26:31-56 | Brent Smith
Jesus reveals to His disciples the response they will have as things progress toward the cross. Jesus Himself reveals the sorrow He will endure because of the cross. And Judas reveals the way he sold out and missed out on the blessings of the cross.
Brent Smith: Preparation for the Cross | Matthew 26:1-30
Jesus prepares for His crucifixion with deliberate movement. We see Him predicting His death, Mary preparing for His death, Judas plotting His death, and the Passover pointing to His death.
