Amos 1:1-2:16 – A Word To The Nations
Amos was just a simple sheep breeder in a small town. Yet God took an ordinary guy and placed an extraordinary calling on his life. Amos would be used of the Lord to share His message to the people of Israel who had drifted from their covenant relationship with God. In the book of Amos we see the care and compassion of God toward the unfair treatment of others.
These first two chapters reveal the sovereignty of God as He has a word of judgment for various nations surrounding Israel, and then hits home to Israel themselves.
